Summary Description
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst provides management and supervision of training, and specialized consultative services in the area of behavior analysis and positive behavioral supports. This includes providing direct (on-site consultation) and indirect behavior analytic services to students with special needs who have been diagnosed with severe behavioral disabilities.
- Developing and implementing district-wide, ongoing training for appropriate staff in the area of positive behavioral supports and behavior analysis.
- Participating in a variety of meetings, workshops/trainings for the purpose of supporting and/or gathering information required to remain knowledgeable with district and program guidelines and vision. Participating in IEP meetings, as necessary.
- Effectively balancing the role of district-wide training in behavior analysis and positive behavioral supports with the provision of more specialized consultation on a case-by-case basis.
- Supervision of Registered Behavior Technician(s) (RBTs) in the school setting.
- Providing technical training to program staff (site administration, special education teachers, general education teachers, paraprofessionals, etc.) regarding specialized instructional methods and best practices from a recognized research base.
- Working with site staff to build skills and abilities at school sites to functionally assess, collect behavioral data, graph behavioral data, and write effective behavior plans, providing in-service opportunities for parents regarding effective behavioral management in specialized cases.
- Working with district and special education staff in developing data collection systems, monitoring data collection, and analyzing data to ensure the effectiveness of interventions and instructional strategies.
- Facilitating and coaching school teams (i.e., teachers, assistants/aides, school site administration) on behavior management techniques and/or specialized instructional methods specific IEP behavior management protocols.
- Developing resources for tracking data on student behavior, contracts, charts, reinforcement systems for Washoe County School District and its clients.
- Conducting functional behavior assessments, developing BIP's and BSP's and presenting findings to school team at IEP meetings.
- Assisting in functional behavior assessments, as well as behavior intervention plans.
- Providing regular service reviews to ensure ongoing compliance with implementation of behavior plans. This also includes reviewing learner performance data (e.g., collecting and visually summarizing behavioral data).
- Observing students across a variety of educational settings and providing feedback to staff in all school settings in their efforts to functionally assess and write effective behavior plans.
- Creating technical assistance reports establishing site-specific observations and recommendations encouraging sites to use least-restrictive methods and best-practices to promote student/program successes.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
- Assisting Special Education Area Administrator with oversight and management of behavior assignments in order to provide effective and timely behavioral consultation and support at school sites.
- Maintaining and following through on plans for the purpose of assisting in the training of students, family, district and special education staff in the use of behavior intervention and instructional strategies designed to assist students in learning replacement behaviors and generalizing skills across settings.
- Remaining in compliance with Federal, and State Laws.
- Remaining in compliance with Board Certified Behavior Analyst Ethical Guidelines.
- Maintaining good standing as Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
- Participating in professional growth activities, such as: conferences, classes, staff meetings and program visitations.
- Remaining current with approaches, methodology, research in the field to foster professional growth, and educationally related practices.
