Key responsibilities of the Pharmacist include:

• Accept and dispense prescription medications
• Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
• Ensure that the supply of medicines is within the law
• Ensure that the medicines prescribed to patients are suitable
• Accurately maintain confidential records of all patients
• Provide consultation on prescription and non-prescription medications
• Advise patients about medicines, including how to take them and possible reactions
• Provide patient services such as smoking cessation, blood pressure, and cholesterol management
• Educate patients on proper handling of medical devices
• Compound medications for external or internal use
• Prepare sterile solutions
• Supervise pharmacy staff
• Maintain appropriate inventory on pharmaceutical and medical supplies
• Identify and communicate patient drug-related problems
• Collaborate with healthcare practitioners

Requirements of the Pharmacist include:

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree required
• Licensed by the state pharmacy board
