Community Health Alliance is looking for full-time Medical Assistant/Assistive Personnel .Join our talented team of Medical Assistants that focus on serving the community and helping those in need by creating healthy outcomes for patients of every income. We operate six convenient locations throughout Reno and Sparks, providing comprehensive, top-quality medical services, dental and pediatric care, behavioral health, low-cost pharmacies, nourishing food pantries, and more.
PositionSummary
The Medical Assistant (MA) participates in delivering high-quality, patient-centered primary care within CHA's care team model. The MA performs a variety of clinical and administrative duties to support provider efficiency and enhance patient care, with responsibilities including rooming patients, performing in-office labs, administering medications and immunizations, documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and assisting with procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)- Knowledge of clinical workflows, basic anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding and standard lab procedures.
- Skilled in pediatric and adult immunizations and phlebotomy.
- Proficient in using EMRs (eClinicalWorks), Microsoft Office, and medical equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to solve practical problems and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of an AMA-approved Medical Assistant program OR 5 years of recent MA experience required.
- National certification (CMA or RMA) preferred; required within 6 months of hire if not certified.
- Current CPR certification required.
- One year of experience in a family practice or ambulatory care setting preferred.
- Valid driver’s license preferred for occasional courier/transport duties.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to hear, see, and speak clearly to assess patients and complete documentation.
- Exposure to clinical environments with potential exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids.
- Must follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Occasional travel to other CHA sites as needed.
