Nevada Center for Reproductive Medicine (NCRM), part of Ivy Fertility, is seeking an experienced Laboratory Director / Senior Embryologist to oversee all laboratory operations while serving as a key scientific and clinical leader within the organization. This position is responsible for the comprehensive management of andrology, embryology, cryobiology, and assisted reproductive technology (ART) laboratory services with a focus on patient safety, clinical outcomes, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

The Laboratory Director serves as the laboratory's scientific leader and works collaboratively with physicians, clinical staff, and administrative leadership to ensure the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and patient care. This role combines strategic leadership, laboratory oversight, and hands-on embryology expertise.

Essential Responsibilities Laboratory Leadership & Management
  • Plan, organize, direct, and oversee all embryology, andrology, cryobiology, and fertility laboratory services.
  • Provide overall leadership for laboratory operations, quality initiatives, and strategic growth.
  • Supervise scientific personnel including embryologists, andrology staff, cryobiology personnel, and laboratory technicians.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, evaluate, and develop laboratory staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, patient-centered care, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with physicians and executive leadership to support organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Manage laboratory budgets, equipment purchases, capital expenditures, and operational resources.
Embryology & Clinical Responsibilities
  • Perform and oversee advanced embryology procedures including:
    • Oocyte retrieval processing
    • Conventional insemination and ICSI
    • Embryo culture and assessment
    • Blastocyst development and grading
    • Embryo biopsy
    • Cryopreservation and thawing of oocytes, sperm, and embryos
    • Assisted hatching and other advanced ART procedures
  • Serve as a clinical resource to physicians and patients regarding laboratory procedures and outcomes.
  • Coordinate laboratory-related patient communication and education while helping manage patient expectations.
  • Troubleshoot complex laboratory and embryology issues to ensure optimal clinical outcomes.
Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance
  • Maintain responsibility for laboratory quality systems and all activities outlined in the laboratory Quality Assurance Plan.
  • Ensure ongoing regulatory readiness and compliance with:
    • CLIA
    • FDA
    • CDC
    • OSHA
    • ASRM guidelines
    • AAAHC standards
    • Joint Commission standards
    • State and local regulatory requirements
  • Oversee laboratory inspections, accreditation surveys, audits, and corrective action plans.
  • Develop, review, approve, and maintain laboratory policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols.
  • Monitor quality indicators, laboratory outcomes, incident reports, and performance metrics.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions as needed.
Data Management & Performance Improvement
  • Oversee the accuracy and timely submission of SART data and other required reporting.
  • Utilize laboratory data and metrics to drive quality improvement initiatives and improve patient outcomes.
  • Prepare performance reports and present findings to physicians and leadership.
  • Maintain laboratory databases and evaluate trends impacting clinical success rates and operational performance.
  • Demonstrate competency in data-driven decision making and continuous process improvement.
Equipment & Facility Oversight
  • Ensure the safe operation, maintenance, validation, and optimal performance of all laboratory equipment.
  • Troubleshoot laboratory equipment issues and coordinate service or repairs when necessary.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, equipment, and laboratory processes.
  • Maintain laboratory environments that support quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Strategic & Organizational Leadership
