The Host/Cashier Swing for the Steakhouse is responsible for providing exceptional guest service, managing reservations, seating guests efficiently, and accurately handling cash and credit card transactions. This role ensures a smooth and welcoming experience for all diners in a fast-paced, high-end environment.
Job Responsibilities- Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival, confirming reservations and managing waitlists.
- Escort guests to their tables, presenting menus and communicating any specials or important information.
- Maintain accurate seating charts and floor plans, ensuring optimal table turnover and guest flow.
- Answer phones professionally, taking reservations, and addressing guest inquiries.
- Process guest payments accurately and efficiently, handling cash, credit cards, and gift certificates.
- Reconcile cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring all transactions are accounted for.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the host stand and dining area.
- Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure a seamless dining experience.
- Resolve guest complaints or concerns with professionalism and discretion.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including cash handling protocols and guest service standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a host/cashier role, preferably in a fine dining or high-volume restaurant setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and outgoing personality.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in basic math and cash handling procedures.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (swing shift availability is essential).
- Knowledge of POS systems (e.g., Aloha, Open Table) is a plus.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all necessary gaming licenses and certifications, if applicable.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
