Job Overview

Capital Insurance Group is seeking a candidate to join our Actuarial & Analytics Department. The role involves partnership with internal stakeholders, collecting and communicating results, and shaping strategy in analytics.

This is a hybrid-eligible position;
Monday through Wednesday will be in an office, with Thursday and Friday eligible for work‑from‑home. Offices are located in Reno (NV), Monterey (CA), and Phoenix (AZ).

• Advanced Analytics – Understand and implement predictive modeling and machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, classification, clustering) and their application in insurance.
• Story Telling – Demonstrate experience with data visualization. Communicate department needs and produce intuitive solutions that enable decision makers.
• Collaboration – Work directly with internal partners to launch analytics solutions across the organization, integrating them into workflows and achieving buy‑in.
• Dataset Architecture – Compile relevant data from multiple internal databases, use alternative data for validation, and document the process.
• Education – Pursue continuing education and training opportunities in analytics and data science. Support attendance at conferences when available.
• Leadership – Pitch ideas and influence status quo on high‑visibility projects.
• Manage – Handle multiple high‑visibility projects simultaneously, prioritize and execute amid ambiguity.

• Possesses a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in a quantitative or scientific field.
• 7+ years of experience, with special consideration for candidates with advanced machine learning experience.
• Experience creating and completing end‑to‑end analyses or modeling projects.
• Background in statistics.
• Demonstrated ability to implement findings from predictive modeling analyses.
• Extensive experience using SQL and a comprehensive understanding of relational databases.
• Advanced knowledge of Python, R, or another object‑oriented statistical language.
• Experience with data visualization software (e.g., Tableau) is a plus.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• Senior Data Scientist or Analytics Manager role experience.
