Our client supports critical operations for clients across various industries. They are a technology leader, delivering reliable data center solutions. They are currently looking to add a Data Center Technician to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$42/hr - $45/hr

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a Data Center Technician to support and maintain data center hardware and infrastructure. The role involves hands‑on work with servers, network devices, and cabling to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with network and system administrators to resolve technical issues and maintain equipment inventory.

Responsibilities of the Data Center Technician:
  • Temporarily rack, stack, and cable servers or switches to provide remote access for network administrators to complete configuration and validation.
  • Collaborate with Network Administrators to resolve server‑related issues, including cable replacement or rerouting, optics replacement on server and switch ports, and installation of upgraded hardware components.
  • Install replacement parts and manage return shipments of defective equipment to vendors.
  • Cable servers and network devices according to approved wiring diagrams and coordinate with network administrators to validate connectivity and operational readiness.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot server issues to identify and isolate root causes with support from remote network or system administrators.
  • Perform server firmware upgrades and ensure systems are running approved versions.
  • Conduct physical inspections and audits of servers, components, and consumables to maintain accurate equipment inventory.
  • Support rack and stack activities, server deployment and decommissioning, and hardware break‑fix tasks.
  • Assist with fiber and copper cabling and basic networking tasks.
Required Experience/Skills for the Data Center Technician:
  • Hands‑on experience with data center operations, rack and stack activities, and server deployment and decommissioning.
  • Proficient in hardware installation, break‑fix, and troubleshooting of server components, optics, and network equipment.
  • Knowledge of fiber and copper cabling techniques.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively with network engineers and remote system administrators.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly explain supported data centers, projects, equipment, rack units, cabling, deployments, and troubleshooting activities.
Preferred Experience /Skills for the Data Center Technician:
  • Linux knowledge is preferred but not mandatory.
Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Technical certifications or relevant training in data center operations or IT infrastructure is a plus.
