Data Center Technician L3 - Graveyard Shift

The Data Center Technician III (L3) is a senior technical role responsible for overseeing complex data center operations, advanced troubleshooting, infrastructure deployments, and critical incident response during overnight operations. This position serves as the highest on-shift technical escalation point, providing leadership, mentorship, and guidance to L1 and L2 technicians while ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of critical data center infrastructure.

The L3 Technician is expected to independently manage complex hardware, networking, storage, and infrastructure issues, lead deployment projects, coordinate maintenance activities, and collaborate with engineering teams to implement operational improvements. This role requires exceptional technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced production environment.

• Shift assignment based on business needs
• Weekend, holiday, on-call, and overtime work may be required to support critical operations, incident response, maintenance windows, and project deployments

How You Will Make a Difference:

• Serve as the primary technical lead during overnight operations.
• Oversee daily data center activities to ensure operational continuity and SLA compliance.
• Coordinate and execute complex maintenance activities and infrastructure changes.
• Lead incident response efforts during service-impacting events.
• Ensure adherence to operational standards, procedures, and best practices.

• Lead large-scale server, storage, GPU, and network deployment projects.
• Design and oversee rack layouts, power distribution planning, and cabling strategies.
• Validate infrastructure readiness prior to production deployment.
• Coordinate server migrations, hardware refreshes, and data center expansion initiatives.
• Perform advanced hardware installations and configuration activities.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, storage, networking, and infrastructure issues.
• Perform root cause analysis for recurring incidents and major outages.
• Provide Tier 3 escalation support for operational and technical issues.
• Coordinate vendor support engagements and hardware warranty replacements.
• Develop corrective and preventive action plans to improve reliability and reduce recurring failures.

• Support GPU-based systems, AI environments, and high-density compute infrastructure.
• Diagnose GPU, accelerator, and specialized compute hardware failures.
• Coordinate large-scale hardware replacement programs and platform upgrades.
• Assist engineering teams with performance validations and infrastructure testing.

• Develop and maintain operational procedures, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
• Ensure accurate documentation of incidents, maintenance activities, and infrastructure changes.
• Review operational metrics and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
• Drive process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Provide technical leadership for L1 and L2 Data Center Technicians.
• Mentor junior technicians on troubleshooting methodologies and operational best practices.
• Assist in onboarding, training, and development of team members.
• Act as a point of contact between operations, engineering, project management, and vendor teams.
• Support workforce planning and shift handoffs to ensure operational continuity.

• Support power, cooling, environmental monitoring, and facility-related systems.
• Perform capacity planning reviews for racks, power utilization, and infrastructure growth.
• Validate compliance with safety, security, and operational requirements.
• Assist with disaster recovery, business continuity, and critical infrastructure planning.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

• 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise data center operations or critical infrastructure environments.
• Advanced experience troubleshooting server, storage, GPU, and network hardware.
• Proven experience leading deployments, migrations, and infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of data center power, cooling, and operational best practices.
• Experience managing high-priority incidents and major outage responses.
