Job Summary

In this role, you will provide project construction specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure construction activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-NP1

Major Responsibilities
  • Manages the organization and direction of construction and related activities for the West Plant area, including actions of Bechtel, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and their representatives.
  • Oversees area management including supervision of construction craft personnel, field engineering, contract administration, cost and schedule, field procurement, finance and accounting services, and craft resource personnel, as applicable.
  • Is the primary contact for client’s area representative and maintains effective relations with other departments.
  • Coordinates all area contractual activities and participates in the development of contract, subcontract, or vendor scopes of work, budgets, contract formation, and negotiations.
  • Directs the development and implementation of a training program to ensure subordinate personnel receive progressive training to enable them to assume additional responsibilities.
  • Oversees jobsite expenditures for labor equipment, material and services, ensures field operations are within the budget.
  • Establishes project field procedures and objectives within corporate policies and procedures as necessitated by conditions at a jobsite.
  • Develops, implements, and administers a area security plan and coordinates the activities with other areas.
  • Responsible for overall development of manual training and any testing as required.
  • Plans and establishes procedures to ensure construction operations meet engineering designs and specifications.
  • Ensures corporate policies and procedures are fully implemented.
  • Directs overall project safety programs and ensures strict adherence to local and national regulatory safety codes.
  • Ensures required permits and licenses are in place prior to the start of the affected work at site.
Education and Experience Requirements

Required bachelor's or master's degree and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of all phases of construction operations relating to field activities of all disciplines, all construction technologies and job-site management.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes
  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” safety program.
  • Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements and general awareness of environmental laws.
  • Knowledge of government compliance standards.
  • Heavy industrial US direct hire construction experience
  • Knowledge of local labor laws and issues.
  • Knowledge of manual craft timekeeping, word processing, spreadsheet and other standard applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
  • Knowledge of project and Bechtel Quality Assurance program.
  • Working knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs)
