The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a dynamic, results-driven Director of Development to lead major gift fundraising efforts for its College of Science, including the Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering. Reporting to the Executive Director of Development and working closely with the Dean and college leadership, the Director will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift donors ($50,000 and above), building private philanthropic partnerships that support academic excellence, enhance student experiences and advance the mission of Nevada's flagship university.

• Build and manage an active portfolio of prospects and donors, conducting regular face‑to‑face visits.
• Translate the College's funding priorities into compelling proposals and giving opportunities.
• Help align fundraising strategy across the College's departments while strengthening stewardship practices that recognize and retain donor support over time.

• Bachelor's degree and four years of related professional experience, or Master's degree and two years of related experience.
• Preference for experience in higher education fundraising, non‑profit organizations, or a related field emphasizing strong relationship‑building and outcome‑driven results.
• Tenacious, proactive, and outcome‑driven with a strong sense of initiative and urgency.
• Comfortable managing an independent portfolio and motivated by goals, metrics and meaningful donor engagement.
• Based on campus with frequent local travel.
• Comfortable with mining and able to advocate for its importance.
