SUMMARY:

The Division Manager is responsible for the overall success and stability of Helix Electric, with a particular focus on integrating all operational functions. The successful candidate will have significant experience within the power/electrical industry, having worked effectively through periods of rapid growth and change. This individual will have successfully demonstrated the ability to
1) manage and grow a substantial organization, while building a talent workforce,
2) identify, analyze, and negotiate new work, develop new business alliances,
3) work directly with the executive team, as well as key outside constituents, and
4) be active in trade organizations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the overall operations of the Construction Management Division, including budgeting, staffing, and performance evaluation
  • Develop and implement strategic plans and policies for the division, aligned with the organization's vision and goals
  • Coordinate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, such as senior management, clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies; this should include a minimum of 3 client contacts per week
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager on the project lifecycle, from initiation to closure, ensuring the scope, schedule, quality, and budget are met or exceeded
  • Work closely with pre-construction to help establish strong relationships with General Contractors/Developers
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the project teams, resolving any issues or challenges that arise during the construction process
  • Ensure the division adheres to the best practices and standards of construction management, such as risk management, quality control, and change management
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance and outcomes of the division's projects, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
  • Manage, mentor and develop direct reports and key personnel, to include one-on-one meetings with direct reports on a weekly basis
  • Implement company policies and procedures
  • Monitor and evaluate employee performance and results ensuring employees are held accountable to company policies, procedures and expectations
  • Demonstrate, build and hold employees accountable to the company's core values and culture
  • Member and participant in the Helix Senior Safety Committee to ensure safety policies are being followed
  • Participate in regular site visits
  • Build and support field personnel engagement

COMPETENCIES:

  • At least 15 years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex and large-scale construction projects, from inception to completion
  • Strong knowledge of the principles and practices of construction management, including project management, engineering, architecture, and contracting
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Proficient in the use of various software and tools for construction management, such as MS Project, AutoCAD, and preferably BIM
  • Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or equivalent is preferred

REQUIRED

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Strong organizational traits. Must possess ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly while focusing on details
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability/desire to build relationships throughout the organization
  • Proactive, strategic, and intuitive thinker. Possesses a high degree of emotional intelligence and maturity
  • Strong problem-solving abilities. Exhibits sound judgement and ability to prioritize
  • Proven ability to process confidential information with discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve critical performance goals within tight deadlines
  • Possess excellent business acumen
