Summary
This position reports directly to the Administrative Officer - Facility Management Service of the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System. The role involves managing the facility motor pool fleet, integrating additional vehicles, and ensuring 100% fleet reliability regardless of the number of vehicles.
QualificationsThe applicant must meet all specified requirements by the closing date (07/14/2026). Key qualifications include:
- Federal employee time‑in‑grade eligibility for a GS‑09 position; a 52‑week history at GS‑07 or equivalent.
- At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑07, or the applicable educational credential (Master’s degree, 2 full years of advanced graduate study, or related law degrees). Combination of experience and education must meet at least 100% of the required grade level percent.
- Knowledge of GSA fleet management programs, regulations, and repair/maintenance requirements.
- Ability to plan, organize, manage, research, interpret, and apply regulations, directives, policies, and guidance.
- Review vehicle and equipment maintenance schedules to ensure timely repairs and compliance with criteria.
- Inspect new vehicles, certify acceptance conditions, and oversee warranty repairs before assignment.
- Coordinate vehicle rotation, disposition of under‑ or over‑utilized equipment, including documentation for disposal.
- Track and report monthly mileage usage of the transportation motor pool fleet.
- Prepare programming and budgeting reports for annual vehicle budget submission.
- Apply regulations, directives, policies, and guidance to ensure efficient fleet operations.
- Maintain comprehensive technical knowledge of standard and special‑purpose vehicles, cost and market trends, and operating characteristics.
- Develop and approve local transportation policies and regulations.
- Review and approve correspondence providing customer assistance regarding fleet management program policies, procedures, and services.
- Analyze overall fleet operations and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
07:30 am – 04:00 pm. This is not a virtual position.
