Job Description
Skilled Machine Operator II operates one or several lithium-ion battery cell production machines within a variety of departments, including many clean-room environments. Machine types may include inspection and conveyance machines. Operators perform related machine and work area upkeep (5S), material movement, basic analysis, and sustain production logs. They work across a team to ensure a safe and high-quality product. This role requires active communication with co-workers and Maintenance Technicians for quality and production-related issues, and escalation to management or appropriate personnel when necessary.
Maintain shift logs and QC records for the assigned areas. The individual must work and comply with safety standards, practices, environmental regulations, and all company rules and policies.

Machine types may include roll presses, punch presses, inspection, and conveyance machines. Operators perform related machine and work area upkeep (5S), material movement, basic analysis, and production logs. They work across a team to ensure a safe and high-quality product. This role requires active communication with co-workers and Maintenance Technicians for quality and production-related issues, with escalation to management or appropriate personnel when necessary.
Maintain the shift logs and QC records for the assigned areas. The individual must work and comply with safety standards, practices, and all environmental regulations.
- Skilled experience in one or more processes in the battery manufacturing process
- Pushes carts
- Loads material
- Performs basic machine fault clearing
- Performs basic machine cleaning
- Understands fully and always works in compliance with SOP and safety standards
- Demonstrates capabilities in equipment and system maintenance
- Demonstrates trainer training knowledge
- Performs quality checks/measurements
- Is a role model to staff and guides others to perform to Standard Operating Procedures correctly and effectively
- Performs material exchanges
- Demonstrates sensitivity to other people, their learning styles, and their diverse backgrounds
- Able to work with others at all levels to achieve training goals and solve problems
- Performs escalations when called for
- Fosters learning, collaboration, and interactions between employees, shift leads, and supervisory personnel for productive outcomes
- Maintains composure under pressure and during trainee onboarding
- Well organized and able to energize others
- Must adhere to all company rules and policies
- Wearing PPE is a requirement for some roles and may include items such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit with respirator
Education:
- Basic/
Required:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent - Preferred: AA/AS in technical writing, engineering, drafting, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of pertinent experience
- Working-level knowledge of English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Able to analyze data
- Must be certified in Train the Trainer Program
- Strong knowledge of soft skills affecting training
- Excellent evaluative assessment and training skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal abilities
- Must be able to operate quality equipment related to mixing, coating, pressing, slitting, and SB
- Ability to motivate team members and work in a high-performing team; able to counsel and deliver performance appraisals
- Safety-conscious attitude
- In supervisor absence, able to make safe, business-minded decisions
- Must pass forklift, electric pallet jack, and manual pallet jack certification
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to complete online learning requirements
- Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group settings
- Work within the Metric and Standard systems of measurement
