Description
As an Assistant Buyer, you’ll support purchasing and material flow activities by assisting with purchase order processing, supplier communication, and the receiving of incoming materials. You will also ensure materials are ordered accurately, received on time, properly recorded in our systems, and stored in our facilities to keep production running smoothly. This role works closely with cross‑functional teams to support efficient, organized, and reliable manufacturing operations.

- Support Buyers with purchase order creation, updates, and tracking in our ERP system
- Communicate with suppliers to confirm pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery status
- Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, and item records
- Receive incoming materials and verify shipments for accuracy, quantity, and condition against purchase orders and packing slips
- Accurately enter receipts into the ERP system and label, tag, and route materials to the appropriate storage or production areas
- Coordinate with Quality and Purchasing on non‑conforming or damaged materials
- Work closely with Production, Quality, and Accounting to resolve receiving or invoice discrepancies
- Assist with inventory replenishment based on min/max levels or MRP signals, cycle counts, and inventory audits
- File and organize purchasing documentation, including POs, confirmations, material certifications, and invoices
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to purchasing and receiving processes
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, vendors, and production teams
- 1‑2 years of experience in receiving, purchasing, warehouse, or manufacturing operations
- Familiarity with MRP, inventory control, or vendor management
- Experience with ERP or other inventory management systems
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and grasp items as needed
- This role works across office and manufacturing environments
- Exposure to production areas with machinery, noise, and temperature variation
- Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) when in manufacturing areas
