Material Handler, Manufacturing Production
As a Material Handler in our team, you will be the heartbeat of our production process, ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of work under the guidance of your manager. Your role will be diverse and dynamic, from moving materials to their next operation point to maintaining a clean, safe, and environmentally friendly facility. You will handle both internal and external material movement, from raw materials to finished goods.
Responsibilities- Move material to subsequent operations per shop routing
- Empty chip containers into the correct hoppers
- Move raw materials as instructed to machines
- Maintain a clean, safe, and environmentally friendly work environment
- Obtain and maintain a copy of the production schedule and transport material or equipment to and from designated areas in the facility
- Load and unload goods from vehicles such as trucks
- Move goods packed on pallets or in crates around the facility (interior and exterior)
- Stack goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions
- Check that loads are secure
- Stack empty pallets
- Perform daily equipment checks such as recharging the truck’s battery and lubricating equipment, and conducting a daily inspection of the forklift
- Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards
- Clean the paint booth, paint booth components, chains, slings, hooks, cabinets, and any other items as instructed by the manager
- Follow all lean and 5S initiatives as instructed by the manager
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary; the job description may change as business needs change
You display a can‑do attitude in good and bad times, carefully consider all relevant factors, and use appropriate decision‑making criteria and principles. You apply knowledge of internal structures, processes, and culture to resource planning.
Qualifications- Ability to frequently lift up to 35 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
- Use of hands
- Able to work from floor level to 15 ft. with no restrictions
- Regularly operating a powered industrial truck
- Good sense of balance
- Good eye‑hand‑foot coordination
- Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending on the season
- 5+ years of material handling experience in a manufacturing environment
- Carpentry experience and use of tools for building large shipping crates and containers
