Within the Sample Preparation Department, the Sample Preparation Technician (P2) will work with client samples and prepare them for analysis in our labs.
Responsibilities- Ring and sieve samples, including International Soils
- Crush and split samples under direct supervision
- Load and unload drying ovens under supervision
- Maintain own production logs
- Perform general cleaning duties for basic laboratory cleanliness
- Assist with layout duties/tasks as needed
- Handle compositing, screen metallics, special handling requests, etc.
- Inspect equipment and inform senior employee if adjustments are required
- Ensure analytical quality
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Good hand‑eye coordination, good organizational skills, ability to work independently or as part of a team, basic alpha/numeric comprehension, basic English communication skills (written and verbal).
Required Qualifications- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment
- Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, sometimes continuously; occasionally lifting may exceed 50 lbs requiring assistance from another employee or lifting equipment
- Ability to perform general office work at a desk, including periodic sedentary responsibilities
- Be cleanly‑shaven to wear protective equipment
