Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer will support and execute new product introductions into manufacturing, resolve day-to-day production issues, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced, collaborative production environment. This role works closely with contract manufacturers and internal production teams across multiple international sites, ensuring robust manufacturing processes, clear documentation, and effective cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and execute new product introduction (NPI) activities from engineering into full-scale production.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve real-time, day-to-day production issues on the manufacturing floor.
  • Improve, standardize, and document manufacturing processes and detailed work instructions.
  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives to increase efficiency and quality.
  • Partner closely with contract manufacturers and internal production teams to ensure stable and scalable production.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams to align on product design, manufacturability, and process requirements.
  • Use CAD tools to design production fixtures and implement minor product design tweaks that support manufacturing needs.
  • Coherently discuss and review product changes with engineering, providing clear feedback from a manufacturing perspective.
  • Support product launches into manufacturing, including ramp-up, validation, and handoff to steady-state production.
  • Define or refine labor standards and assembly times to support accurate planning and operational efficiency.
  • Apply principles of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) to optimize product designs for efficient, high-quality production.
  • Support and participate in ISO 9000–related activities, including audits and process documentation as needed.
  • Travel to domestic and international manufacturing sites to collaborate with on-site teams, support NPI, and address production challenges.

Essential

Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or in a similar manufacturing-focused engineering role.
  • Proven experience supporting active production environments rather than purely design-focused roles.
  • Hands-on experience with new product introduction (NPI) or product launches into manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and product design principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve real-time production issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams.
  • CAD experience with any major software for fixture design and minor product design modifications.
  • Ability to coherently discuss product changes with engineering and communicate manufacturing impacts clearly.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers in a production setting.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Additional Skills &

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and the ability to apply DFM principles during product and process development.
  • Experience defining labor standards and assembly times to support planning and cost analysis.
  • ISO 9000 familiarity or audit exposure, including working within or supporting certified quality systems.
  • Experience in contract manufacturing environments, including collaboration with external partners.
  • Experience participating in or leading continuous improvement and lean initiatives such as waste reduction, process optimization, or standard work development.

Work Environment:

This is an on-site role in a collaborative, fast-paced production environment, working closely with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams. The position involves significant international travel, typically about one week per month to manufacturing sites in Mexico, the United States, the European Union, and Taiwan. During the initial ramp-up period, travel may increase to approximately 75% for the first few months to support NPI and stabilize production.

The organization emphasizes a healthy work-life balance with a standard 40-hour workweek, a positive and supportive team culture,…
