General Laborer – Swing/Graveyard
This role supports a heavy industrial metal processing facility by performing a variety of general labor tasks, with a primary focus on grinding and inspection of metal parts. You use grinders to remove defects, ensure product quality, and assist with additional production and labor activities as needed across swing and graveyard shifts.
Responsibilities- Operate grinders to perform inspection grinding, finish grinding, spot grinding, and all‑over grinding on metal parts.
- Inspect metal parts closely to identify cracks, defects, and imperfections, and grind them down to meet quality standards.
- Stand for the entire shift while performing grinding and other labor‑intensive tasks.
- Wear and properly use a respirator and other required personal protective equipment throughout the shift.
- Handle, push, pull, and lift heavy materials and metal parts weighing 75–100 lbs frequently.
- Support general labor and production activities as needed, including moving materials, assisting machine operators, and maintaining workflow on the production floor.
- Use basic math skills, including addition and subtraction, to support measurements and production tasks.
- Read and accurately use a tape measure to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet specifications.
- Follow established safety procedures and guidelines in a hot, heavy industrial environment with furnaces and grinding equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in a dusty and dirty production setting.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors to coordinate tasks and meet production goals.
- Adapt to different tasks and priorities depending on production needs across swing and graveyard shifts.
- Proven ability to perform heavy lifting and frequent pushing and pulling of 75–100 lbs.
- Experience working in environments involving grinders, manufacturing, metals, or construction.
- Ability to stand for the full duration of the shift while performing repetitive, physically demanding tasks.
- Comfort using a respirator and adhering to safety and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Basic math skills, including accurate addition and subtraction.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure to verify part dimensions.
- Willingness and ability to work swing (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.) or graveyard (11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.) shifts Monday through Friday.
- Reliability and strong work ethic in a heavy industrial production environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Background in operating grinders or other metal finishing equipment.
- Experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing or production setting.
- Prior work in metals processing, fabrication, or related heavy industrial operations.
- Experience in construction or other physically demanding labor roles.
- Comfort working in hot, loud, dusty, dirty, and smelly environments.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and quality standards while maintaining productivity.
This is a heavy industrial metal processing facility that uses furnaces to heat and treat metal, creating a hot and physically demanding environment. The work area is described as hot, heavy, loud, dusty, dirty, and smelly, with continuous production activity and grinding operations. You work on a Monday–Friday schedule, with openings on first shift (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.), swing shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.), and graveyard shift (11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.), and you remain on your feet for the entire shift while wearing a respirator and other required protective gear.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Reno, NV.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.15 – $22.50/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
