- Associate's degree or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field.
- 2 years of generator experience in an industrial or commercial environment.
- Ability to perform material handling tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs and use OSHA safety equipment.
- Ability to work non-standard hours and rotating shifts.
- 2 years of experience in maintenance of generator systems or construction/technical environment.
- Experience in data centers, hospitals, or power plants.
- Knowledge of generator systems used in a data center environment.
- Knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting using standard hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems.
The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems in the world. Facilities Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions. Responsibilities include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems. You will inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems such as piping and non‑critical electrical or mechanical components, read blueprints/schematics, conduct tours of systems and assess their working order.
You will develop creative approaches to reduce operational costs while improving efficiency, ensuring environmental and safety standards are met, and manage performance issues and outages.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform routine inspections and scheduled preventive maintenance on generator sets.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical failures using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
- Perform major and minor repairs on engines, alternators, control panels, and electrical systems.
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment.
- Support startup, commissioning, and integration of new generator equipment and systems into facilities infrastructure.
US: $86,000 - $119,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
