Job Overview

Eaton’s ES GEIS BLD division is currently seeking a Welder – 1st Shift (Cable Tray) at our Reno, NV facility. The hourly rate for this position is $28.07 per hour.

Core hours are 6:15 am to 2:45 pm. Overtime may exceed these hours and be mandatory at times.

The Welder position is primarily focused on welding for our cable tray department. The Welder will direct and assist Assembler II’s with assembling ladders as well as welding the cable tray ladders and fittings.

• Perform simple repetitive tasks and assembly of parts and components.
• Use bolts, screws, hand tools, clips and other fastening devices.
• Operate welding unit, perform minor adjustments, and weld both aluminum and steel.
• Work under close supervision and may work from models, samples, or engineering drawings.
• Remove excess weld, slag, spatter, and rough spots from work pieces using grinders, brushes, chisels, or scrapers.
• Support all facility Continuous Improvement and LEAN initiatives including, but not limited to:
• Maintain 5‑S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) throughout shop floor and office areas.
• Track and sustain all visual management tools such as layered audits, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) boards, and any additional LEAN tools that are deemed necessary to provide direction, goals and status to the shop floor.
• Encourage, support, and actively participate in Kaizen improvements and events throughout the facility, department, and area of responsibility.

• No relocation benefit is offered. Candidates must be within a 50‑mile radius of Reno, NV, except active‑duty military service members who are exempt.
• Experience accurately measuring components and products using tape measures & calipers.
• Experience reading engineering drawings.
• A minimum of 1 year welding experience in a manufacturing environment (MIG/TIG).
• Experience adjusting and troubleshooting welding equipment.
• Experience identifying defects and measuring workpiece to ensure conformance.

• Previous experience with manufacturing fabrication.
• Ability to weld aluminum and steel.
• Experience with high‑volume, fast‑paced welding.

• Able to stand on feet continuously during working shift.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment as required by company policy and procedure.

• Able to regularly lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation; occasionally lift more than 50 lbs. with assistance.
• Repetitive lifting and movement of small and large products/components.
• Exposure to high noise level.
• Exposure to high traffic areas with forklift activity.
• Work environment exposes to oils, lubricants, and solvents.
