Datacenter People are currently supporting a global leader in data center power and infrastructure solutions in the search for a Manufacturing Director to join its operation in Reno, Nevada.

This is an on-site senior leadership position with responsibility for manufacturing operations across North America, covering both internal production and external contract manufacturing partners.

The role combines operational leadership with manufacturing strategy, capacity planning, continuous improvement and the scaling of electronics manufacturing operations.

The Opportunity

You will take ownership of North American manufacturing performance across production, quality and equipment maintenance, ensuring the operation delivers against safety, quality, delivery, cost and compliance objectives.

Alongside the day-to-day operation, there is a strong strategic element: developing manufacturing capacity, supporting new product introductions and working across Engineering, Supply Chain and Product Management to ensure products can be manufactured reliably and at scale.

What the Job Involves…
  • Lead manufacturing operations across the North American region
  • Develop and implement regional manufacturing and operational strategies
  • Drive continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma and similar methodologies
  • Manage internal production capacity alongside external contract manufacturing capacity
  • Monitor contract manufacturer performance across quality, delivery, safety and compliance
  • Establish and manage operational KPIs covering output, cycle time, scrap and on-time delivery
  • Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain and Product Management on manufacturability and reliability
  • Support the scaling of manufacturing operations and new product introduction (NPI)
  • Lead and develop manufacturing managers and wider operational teams
  • Oversee operational budgets, capital planning and cost improvement initiatives
  • Support customer audits, operational escalations and technical reviews
  • Manage supplier negotiations, quote reviews and contract discussions
  • The position will also involve approximately 25–50% travel, including some international travel.
We're Looking for Someone Who...
  • Significant experience within electronics manufacturing environments
  • Strong track record leading manufacturing teams and operations
  • Technical understanding of PCB assembly and SMT manufacturing processes
  • Experience with testing methodologies and electronics production environments
  • Proven Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience
  • Experience scaling manufacturing operations and supporting NPI
  • Understanding of QMS, ISO, IPC and wider electronics manufacturing standards
  • Commercial understanding of manufacturing costs, budgets and operational performance
  • Experience with ERP/MRP and data-driven manufacturing systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management or a related discipline

Experience with SAP, Agile, Power BI, automation, robotics or advanced manufacturing technologies would also be advantageous.

What Makes This Role Interesting...
  • Senior ownership of manufacturing operations across North America
  • Combination of strategic leadership and hands‑on operational responsibility
  • Opportunity to lead both internal manufacturing and external CM relationships
  • Direct involvement in capacity expansion, NPI and manufacturing scalability
  • Work across Engineering, Supply Chain, Product and commercial functions
  • Exposure to advanced electronics manufacturing, automation and continuous improvement

Part of a wider business supplying established power, connectivity and infrastructure technologies into the rapidly expanding data center market.
