Job Description

Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Pre/Post Cath lab area to diverse patient populations. Demonstrates composure in fast-paced patient prep and recovery environment. Perform nursing duties such as assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care of patients undergoing cardiac procedures including but not limited to procedures for electrophysiology, cardiac device implants, coronary intervention and structural heart. Assist in bedside procedures to include cardioversions, transesophageal echocardiogram, and implantable loop recorders.

Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the procedural environment.

Identifies and prioritizes the need for further assessment based on the patient’s clinical presentation/diagnosis. Displays the ability to document pertinent patient data, nursing interventions and patient responses. Documentation is accurate, timely, concise and legible. Communicates with physicians, nurses, directors and co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Consults with staff, physicians and nurse leaders on issues to ensure patient needs are met.

Proficient in pain management and medication dosing.

Recovers patients both post anesthesia care, phase I as well as post moderate sedation, phase II.

Performs in a manner that follows regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards. Assists with the maintenance of Cath lab Pre/Post equipment and inventory.

Job Duties /Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates supportive behaviors necessary for performing bedside report using IMAP & SBAR (both accomplished in partnership with patient inside room).
  • Demonstrates ability to perform head-to-toe pre-procedure assessment on all patients and reassesses post procedure as needed.
  • Demonstrates ability to formulate an individualized plan of care as indicated and evaluates for effectiveness.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac arrhythmias, monitoring of moderate sedation and pre/post anesthesia patients.
