Job Summary:
RN BHU delivers high-quality psychiatric nursing care during night shift 12-hour shifts on a per diem basis. The role focuses on ensuring patient safety, monitoring clinical status, and coordinating care in a behavioral health environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide therapeutic nursing care for patients with psychiatric and behavioral health needs.
- Monitor vital signs, behavioral changes, and clinical indicators and report findings promptly.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols.
- Perform nursing assessments, develop/update nursing documentation, and maintain accurate records.
- Respond to emergent patient situations using appropriate de-escalation and safety procedures.
- Maintain compliance with infection control practices and required safety/clinical standards.
- Hold an active Registered Nurse license with verifiable standing.
- Maintain current BLS certification.
- Maintain current ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications as applicable to the role.
- Provide proof of MMR and Varicella vaccination or acceptable attestation/declination.
- Demonstrate strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting.
- Exhibit sound judgment, professionalism, and effective communication with interdisciplinary teams.
- Build expertise in psychiatric nursing through consistent exposure to behavioral health care.
- Strengthen assessment, documentation, and emergency response skills in a specialized setting.
