Position: Charge Registered Nurse (Charge RN)

Naph Care is hiring a PRN Charge Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team at the Washoe County Jail in Reno, Nevada. This PRN opportunity offers competitive pay of $53.35/hr
, providing experienced nurses with the flexibility to pick up shifts while earning additional income and expanding their leadership experience in a unique clinical setting.

As a Correctional Charge RN
, you will serve as a clinical leader, partnering with correctional staff and a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high‑quality patient care within a secure environment. In this role, you will oversee daily nursing operations, provide clinical guidance and support to nursing staff, assist with complex patient care needs, and help ensure continuity of care for an underserved population.

This position is ideal for experienced nurses who are confident in their clinical judgment, enjoy leadership responsibilities, and are looking for a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. Responsibilities
  • Performing initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals
  • Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs and medical histories
  • Conducting daily clinical rounds, providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services
  • Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities
  • Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention
  • Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well‑being of patients
  • Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting any relevant information
Qualifications
  • Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state of Nevada
  • Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA required)
  • Two years of full‑time RN experience with knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, and applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed
  • Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
