Job Duties and Responsibilities

This part‑time Day Surgery RN opportunity is part of Sierra Medical Center, a 170‑bed acute care hospital within the Northern Nevada Health System. The RN will provide direct and indirect patient care in the Day Surgery Unit (DSU) and Preoperative Holding Area (PHA) environment, communicate with physicians, Nurse Manager, and other staff about changes in patient condition, and perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.

• Perform a head‑to‑toe assessment on all patients and conduct reassessments as per policy, including pediatric, geriatric, and general patient populations.
• Adequately assess and reassess pain, utilize appropriate pain‑management techniques, and educate patients and families regarding pain management.
• Establish a plan of care as indicated by physician orders and patient condition.
• Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
• Serve as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
• Interact professionally with patients/families, involving them in the formation of the plan of care and discharge plan.

• Current Nevada Registered Nurse licensure
• Current ACLS and BLS certification
