Responsibilities
Northwest Specialty Hospital, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, brings expanded services to a new building at 6225 Sharlands Ave in Northwest Reno. The facility offers adult behavioral health services. The detox unit is a new program that will provide detox services to all adults 18 years and older.
The department is managed through a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, CNAs, social workers, and therapists. Patients will receive an individualized care plan that includes individual and family therapy, activities, medication management, and a 24‑hour secure, compassionate environment.

- Complete bedside shift report at the beginning and end of each shift and ensure patients receive contact information for the care team.
- Meet with the supervising RN at the start of each shift to receive task delegation.
- Involve the patient and family in psychosocial, spiritual, emotional, population‑specific, and diversity needs in care.
- Follow facility policies and procedures to promote patient safety (e.g., safe environment, equipment safety practices, radiation safety, fire prevention).
- Adhere to fall precautions by performing or assisting patients with toileting/ADL care and never leave the patient alone; if assistance is needed, call or help while remaining with the patient.
- Graduate of an accredited CNA program.
- Current Nevada CNA license.
- Current BLS certificate.
