Responsibilities
Northwest Specialty Hospital, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, offers adult behavioral health services at 6225 Sharlands Ave. in Northwest Reno. The detox unit, available to adults 18 years and older, is managed by a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, nurses, CNAs, social workers, and therapists. Patients receive individualized care plans that include individual and family therapy, activities, medication management, and a 24‑hour secure, compassionate environment.
This per diem CNA position offers a convenient day‑shift schedule and supports the healthcare team. The patient‑centered care principles guide all nursing care; the CNA must demonstrate Service Excellence standards throughout.
- Completes bedside shift report in the room at the beginning and end of each shift; ensures patient has the names and contact numbers for members of the care team on the communication board every shift.
- Meets with supervising RN at the beginning of each shift to receive delegation of tasks.
- Involves the patient and family psychosocial, spiritual, emotional, population specific, and diversity needs in care.
- Follows facility policies and procedures to promote patient safety (e.g., safe environment, equipment safety practices, radiation safety, fire prevention).
- Adheres to fall precautions by performing or assisting patients with toileting/ADL care and never leaving the patient alone; if assistance is needed, the CNA can ask, call, or help while remaining with the patient.
- Graduate of an accredited CNA program.
- Current Nevada CNA license.
- Current BLS certificate.
