Reno, Nevada/Western U.S. (Field-Based & Office Work) | Full-Time | Cultural Resource Management

The G2 Archaeology, Reno, Nevada office is currently seeking a qualified Staff Archaeologist to support several survey, monitoring, and excavation projects in the Great Basin region. This is a full-time opportunity for an experienced professional with a passion for field archaeology and cultural resource management.
What You’ll Do
In the Field:
- Lead and conduct archaeological fieldwork, including survey, testing, monitoring, and excavation.
- Coordinate gear, vehicles, and crew logistics.
- Communicate with agency archaeologists, clients, the Principal Investigator, and Project Manager.
- Train new team members on field techniques and equipment use.
In the Office:
- Assist with report writing and data entry (e.g., site records, photo logs, isolate logs).
- Manage multiple tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Collaborate with team members on project planning and execution.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (or higher) in anthropology, archaeology, or a related field.
- CRM field experience in the Great Basin.
- Qualified to be permitted as a Crew Chief in Nevada.
- Skilled in prehistoric and historic site identification, documentation, and evaluation.
- Experience leading crews and delegating tasks effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a 4WD vehicle in rough terrain.
- Willing and able to travel to remote locations for extended fieldwork.
- Eagerness to continue learning and refining professional skills.
Preferred Skills
- MSHA certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Basic compass, GPS, and map navigation proficiency.
- Experience working outdoors in rugged terrain and variable weather.
- Ability to hike up to 10 miles per day for multiple consecutive days.
- Willingness to camp in remote locations as needed.
- Starting hourly rate: $32.50 to $35.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
- Health, Dental, Vision Insurance: Coverage begins the 1 st day of the month following your start date
- PTO: Begins accruing on first day of work and is available for use after 3 months.
- Sick Leave: 40 hours of sick leave annually
- 401(k): Eligibility begins 3 months after start date
