Salary Range: $25.10 To $28.11 Annually
We are looking for a Sample and Food Safety Coordinator to join our team in Reno, NV. Reporting to the Senior Commercialization Manager, the Sample and Food Safety Coordinator will connect the I&D department with the plant, blending Quality and Commercialization responsibilities. In Commercialization, the Sample and Food Safety Coordinator will assist by preparing samples for Sales, as well as for both internal and external customers.
The coordinator will also support during pilot phases and first production runs for new product launches. In Quality, their role will be to promote a world‑class Food Safety culture at the designated SK Food Group facility. They will lead initiatives to decrease food safety risks and maintain a safe plant environment through environmental monitoring. They will also ensure that every part of the Food Safety/HACCP plan is adhered to, and carry out the environmental monitoring program in line with regulatory standards.
- Organize and support all plant trials to include receiving, staging, production attendance and providing general support to customers, I&D and Sales.
- Review sample order request forms upon receipt from Sales and I&D.
- Complete sample order requests and ship out per requested ship dates with tracking information.
- Ensure sample products are built per specification and with top‑shelf presentation.
- Maintains the organization and inventory level of the R&D freezer, R&D cooler and the R&D ambient storage areas.
- Coordinate with Planning and other key personnel to obtain equipment and/or production equipment line time when needed.
- Review inbound component log and sample requests, coordinate and schedule tasks when required.
- Serve as key participant in internal pre‑plant trial review with key plant personnel to ensure success at trial.
- Record product assembly during plant pilots, trials and internal runs utilizing video and still photography for future reference and plant documentation.
- Provide information for documentation including finished good product specifications, manufacturing product specifications and production picture boards.
- Support data collection on new components as required by I&D, Commercialization or Quality Assurance team members.
- Coordinate sign‑off documents in compliance with FDA, USDA and FSMA standards.
- Prepare, implement and conduct sampling plans for environmental microbiological monitoring activities.
- Responsible for administering all aspects of environmental monitoring program including, but not limited to, conducting swabbing, submitting samples, documenting swab locations, logging results, trending and all other necessary aspects of program.
- Review data for compliance with regulations and compile reports of analytical evaluation.
- Participate in microbiological investigations and foster continuous improvement of sanitation practices by facilitating the corrective action process to remediate deficiencies.
- Educate and train associates on food safety and quality topics, policies and procedures. Perform floor monitoring and audits to assure compliance.
- Perform monthly audits and as part of cross‑functional team with maintenance, production and sanitation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Requirements
:
- Associate’s Degree in related science field, or 2-4 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent knowledge of the components used in the manufacturing plant.
- Working knowledge of basic plant equipment, and production workflow.
- Possesses the ability to read and understand product specifications.
- Ability to make good sound accurate decisions in the supervisor’s absence.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime as necessary.
- Excellent time management and task prioritization abilities.
- Strong attention to detail, communication and organization skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook and Excel specifically) is required.
- Ability to interact with all levels of organization.
- Strong sense of urgency with the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to foresee potential upcoming issues and react to resolve in a timely manner.
