Job Description:
We are seeking motivated Materials Testing Technicians / Project Inspectors to perform both field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, aggregate, asphalt, and other construction materials on public and private projects throughout Northern Nevada. This hands‑on role supports daily construction activities, quality assurance programs, and engineering evaluations essential to successful project delivery.
Work may include daytime and night shifts depending on project schedules. Flexible part‑time options are available for students during the school year, with full‑time opportunities during summer and academic breaks. This position offers an excellent pathway to a long‑term career with a respected, AASHTO‑accredited engineering firm known for developing skilled technicians and inspectors.
Job Requirements:
- Team‑oriented mindset and willingness to work collaboratively with CME staff and clients.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a drug test.
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
- Possibility of travel to remote project sites.
- Comfortable performing physical tasks, including lifting materials up to 50 pounds and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Detail‑oriented with a strong commitment to quality control and quality assurance.
- Ability to read and understand basic plans, specifications, and testing procedures (training is available).
- Strong communication and documentation skills for reporting field observations and test results.
- Ability to complete and submit reports, test results, and documentation in a timely and organized manner.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to work overtime or non‑standard hours as needed.
Preferred
Skills:
- Current ACI and/or NAQTC certifications.
- Experience performing field or laboratory testing of soils, asphalt, aggregate, concrete, and steel.
- Experience using iPads/tablets and platforms such as Metafield for electronic reporting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
