OverviewThe George Lab investigates how sex‑linked biology impacts immune responses in health and disease. The lab uses systems immunology and high‑parameter single‑cell approaches to understand immune differences between sexes and their effects on disease susceptibility, progression, and treatment outcomes. The Staff Research Associate 2 will process, bank, and maintain human blood and tissue specimens, design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and present findings to the PI and at lab meetings.
Responsibilities- Process, bank, and maintain human blood and tissue specimens.
- Design and conduct experiments (including BSL‑1, BSL‑2, and BSL‑2+ work).
- Analyze data and present findings to the PI and during lab meetings.
- Support daily lab management and develop mentoring and management skills.
- Handle, store, and dispose of hazardous biological and chemical materials in accordance with institutional and safety guidelines.
- Train students in experimental procedures and lab operations, and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) with the PI.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the required area of specialization and one year of professional research experience either in the field or in a laboratory; OR one year of experience as a Staff Research Associate I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
- Candidates with BSL‑2 and BSL‑2+ lab experience, and those who have completed coursework in cellular and molecular biology, immunology, and microbiology.
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, subject to change based on organizational needs.
