Overview

Responsibilities
  • Direct and supervise all functions, duties and activities for the Front-end department and drive the department to achieve sales, profit and quality assurance goals.
  • Execute best practices, goals and established standards for the department and demonstrate the company s core values.
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment and provide exceptional customer service to encourage return visits.
  • Support and participate in department planning, budgeting, and promotional activities in partnership with store management.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads; create and execute department promotions and promotional plans.
  • Monitor and control expenses, supply costs, and inventory conditions; ensure compliance with food safety regulations and safety programs.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports; perform performance reviews and provide feedback.
  • Schedule Front-end associates to provide adequate department coverage and assist in budget and P&L reviews.
  • Maintain knowledge of products, respond to questions, and make product recommendations to customers.
Qualifications
  • Minimum:
    Effective communication skills; knowledge of basic math; ability to handle stressful situations; retail or customer service experience; front-end experience.
  • Desired:
    High school diploma or equivalent; front-end supervisor or management experience; retail experience; second language skills (speaking, reading and/or writing).
  • Competencies:

    Promote trust and respect among associates; communicate company, department, and job-specific information; collaborate with associates; create welcoming environments for customers; maintain product knowledge and provide recommendations.
  • Compliance and operations:
    Maintain records for company and federal compliance (e.g., Anti-money Laundering); monitor and control supply expenses; manage cash; schedule staffing; assist with budget, P&L and financial reporting; develop department business plans and promotions; stay current with ads; monitor inventory and ensure accuracy; ensure training standards are met; adhere to safety, regulatory, and company guidelines; supervise and coach staff and conduct performance reviews;

    manage conflicts; protect customer and business information; support minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as applicable; perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
