Summary / Role

To operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize and total customers’ purchases, receive payment, and assist in bagging purchases for customers.

• Handling cash, credit, or check transactions with customers
• Scanning goods and collecting payments
• Ensuring pricing is correct
• Issuing change, receipts, refunds, or tickets
• Redeeming stamps and coupons
• Counting money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts
• Making sales referrals and cross‑selling products
• Accurately processing sales using cash registers, scanners, or equipment
• Accepting cash, checks, and bank cards for payment
• Keeping counters and customer areas clean
• Occasional mopping
• Stocking cooler and shelves after deliveries
• Greet customers when entering or leaving establishment
• Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas
• Keep reports of transactions
• Answer customers' questions and get a manager if answer doesn't solve the issue
• Bag, box, or wrap packages
• Provide excellent customer service to ensure satisfaction
• Other duties as assigned.

• Basic math skills:
  The cashier must have a fair knowledge of basic calculations
• Excellent communication skills:
  This position involves interaction with the public and as such requires the ability to communicate orally and in writing
• Self‑motivated with the ability to follow directions
• Ability to get tasks done with little or no supervision
• Ability to operate cash register and work with numbers
• Highly energetic; the job would occasionally require lifting objects of average weight
• Attention to details
• IT skills:
  The convenience store cashier should have the ability to operate the computer system and other necessary POS systems.

No requirement

Standing and walking for long periods at a time, up to 8 hours. Bending, stooping, reaching, lifting up to 40 lbs.

This is a split shift position working two graveyard shifts and three swing shifts.
