Overview
Summary
The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The AIT/Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, routine cleaning). Work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership.
The AIT/Assistant Manager will share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager position is a progression from the AIT position and includes additional high level duties specific to that position, though the majority of duties and responsibilities are shared.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay range: $18-$22/hr

Sales Generation and Guest Service
- Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service.
- Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise; assist Guests in locating merchandise.
- Recommend, select, and help locate merchandise based on Guest needs and desires.
- Anticipate and fulfill Guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobing experience.
- Demonstrate product knowledge and sales education to Guests and share that knowledge with Teammates.
- Stay informed on current sales, promotions, and store policies; follow security practices.
- Maintain personal sales performance and contribute to team presentations per SPG (Sales Presentation Guide).
- Achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sale, and total net sales goals set by Store Management.
- Provide legendary service across Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area.
- Understand exchange and return procedures and leverage opportunities to inform Guests.
- Document and utilize the Sales Presentation Guide daily to achieve goals.
- Meet or exceed Buckle business builders and guest loyalty metrics (fit appointments, Buckle credit card, guest connect).
- Collaborate with Inventory and product tools to expand Guest selection.
- Build and maintain Guest relationships to develop a client-based business.
- Lead by example with showmanship, customer service, and attentiveness; communicate Guest levels to the Team.
- Engage in coaching and feedback with Manager to improve sales presentations; perform leadership actions consistently.
- Plan sales goals with Store Manager and own the store’s sales performance (Sales, Avg sale, etc.).
- Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development
- Recognize recruiting opportunities using Jobs & Careers cards, referrals, and Teammate Recommend.
- Coach and develop new Teammates to meet Buckle’s standards on daily operations and Loss Prevention.
- Maintain a positive floor culture and professional dress code; participate in training and performance tracking.
- Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks and demonstrate denim showmanship and fit process.
- Collaborate with Store Manager to execute education focus and leadership playbook; assist with recruitment and staffing.
