BASIC PURPOSE
The primary function of the Store Manager is to assist The Salvation Army in the operation of the Thrift Store for the Reno Adult Rehabilitation Program. This position description is a broad outline of responsibilities.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Oversight of day-to-day store operations, including adherence to budgeted income and expense goals. Monitor sales, suggesting ideas for betterment of sales to management.
- Oversee the compliance of all operational policies and procedures. This includes, but not limited to, discount policy, rag-out procedures, production/sales accountability and proper money handling.
- Work in conjunction with the warehouse staff to maximize the efficiency of the donation pick‑up and store delivery operations. This includes, but not limited to, the processing of donated goods for sale, disposal/recycling of goods not appropriate for sale, and protocol of disbursement of said items. Make sure the store is well stocked.
- Assist staff and customers with questions and concerns. Resolve complaints in a courteous manner while adhering to policy.
- Ensure the store is always clean and orderly.
- Manage personnel. Train them in a manner to optimize their abilities for the betterment of the operation, stressing the importance of prompt courteous assistance to all customers. This includes the recruitment of new hires, community volunteers and court‑appointed individuals.
- Ensure that paperwork is submitted, and bank deposits are done daily.
- Submit payroll information for the store in a timely and efficient manner.
- In accordance with The Salvation Army’s standards, implement progressive discipline measures to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Recommend disciplinary actions, up to and including termination to supervisor.
- Attend all staff meetings, as requested.
- Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Five (5) years supervisory experience in retail store operations.
- Ability to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level
- Minimum two (2) years Secretary/Administrative Assistant experience
- Computer literate, in Windows environment (Microsoft Office), Publisher, Access and Outlook preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent and professional telephone etiquette and presence
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks
- Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Provide an acceptable MVR from the Nevada DMV.
- Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
- Physically able to bend, kneel, stoop, walk, squat, and stand for up to eight (8) hours per day, on a non‑continuous basis.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
