The Travel Advisor provides exceptional travel sales and support experiences to our members. Advisors must be self‑sufficient, self‑motivated, and possess world‑wide travel knowledge with a high level of accuracy. They act as consultants, tailoring AAA products and services to create unique and memorable vacation experiences.
Products/Services HandledFull Service International Cruise & Tour bookings;
Air, Hotel, Car, & Rail ticketing; and all related Member Servicing (primary) – Membership Sales & Servicing (secondary).
- Own the relationship from beginning to end of each travel‑related transaction; sell international and domestic vacation packages, cruises, tours, hotel, car rental, rail and air travel.
- Initiate contact with members, past customers, and community prospects to generate new business and encourage repeat business.
- Maintain minimum production goals in travel sales, sales of Travel Partner and proprietary products (Sojourns, AAA Vacations); cross‑sell credits cards and memberships.
- Research, evaluate, and compare AAA Travel Partner packages to match member needs and deliver exceptional experiences.
- Stay current with world events and latest travel industry developments and trends to provide relevant information to members.
- Investigate and respond to travel‑related member questions/complaints, and recommend solutions.
- Interpret travel documents for members purchasing travel products with AAA, inform them of governmental requirements.
- Handle ticketing for air, hotel, car, and rail, along with primary member servicing.
- Utilize industry‑specific systems (e.g., GDS/Apollo/Galileo) and computer applications (Google Workspace) to manage transactions.
- Apply good judgment and decision‑making to identify customer needs and ensure high accuracy in all bookings.
- Strong working knowledge of computer applications (Google Workspace) and effective telephone skills.
- Familiarity with industry‑specific systems (GDS such as Apollo, Galileo, Travelport) preferred.
- Strong consultative selling skills with an ability to listen to members’ needs.
- Self‑motivated sales drive and documented sales success.
- Detailed knowledge of travel products and worldwide geography.
- Ability to read and interpret maps and brochures.
- Strong judgment and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of general sales experience.
- 3+ years of recent experience selling international and domestic travel services.
Physical Requirements
This is an in‑branch position requiring Saturday availability and occasional evenings for special events. The work consists of sitting at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to attend business meetings or conferences is expected. Approximately 70‑80% of the time on the job involves using a personal computer.
