As a Security Officer - Armed Government Patrol - Weekdays in Reno, NV
, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a government location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a highly visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and respond to concerns with calm professionalism. You will conduct routine patrols, document observations, and communicate clearly with staff and visitors while delivering a caring, people-first experience.

- Provide customer service to all persons at a government location by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and/or emergency response activities.
- Perform armed patrol duties in accordance with Allied Universal post orders, applicable laws, and client policies, including maintaining required permits and equipment.
- Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter points to help deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
- Control access by verifying identification and credentials, managing visitor processing, and directing foot and vehicle traffic in accordance with site procedures.
- Monitor alarms, surveillance systems, and/or radio traffic; investigate alerts and take appropriate actions based on post orders.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalation, summoning assistance, and coordinating with onsite personnel and/or public responders as needed.
- Perform security-related screening procedures when assigned, such as checking bags, packages, and deliveries per site policy.
- Document patrols, incidents, and observations in written reports and electronic systems, providing clear and timely information to supervisors and client representatives.
- Conduct security-related checks of doors, gates, locks, and restricted areas; report maintenance issues, hazards, and policy violations through the appropriate channels.
- Support emergency procedures such as evacuations, shelter-in-place actions, and medical response notification, following site instructions and Allied Universal guidelines.
- Interact professionally with employees, visitors, and the public, providing directions, answering questions, and escalating concerns to the appropriate party.
- Participate in briefings and training, maintain situational awareness of current post requirements, and complete required logs and administrative tasks.
- Be a graduate of a Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or equivalent.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
- An armed guard card and/or license is preferred.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
