In cities across the country, you will secure airports, seaports, railroads, highways, and public transit systems, protecting the nation's transportation infrastructure and ensuring freedom of movement for people and commerce.
DutiesAs a Master Transportation Security Officer – Security Training Instructor at Reno/Tahoe International Airport, you support the airport training program and conduct security screening 20% of the time. Key duties include:
- Delivering training instruction aligned with national standards (new hire, On‑Screen Alarm Resolution Protocol, Crossover) and recurrent training needs.
- Developing local training materials, facilitating training rooms, and handling logistics and administrative support.
- Mentoring/coaching staff to address training gaps.
- Administering and scoring training assessments.
- Assisting with PASS Practical Skills Observations and Level 3 Assessments.
- U.S. citizenship or U.S. national.
- Age 18 or older.
- Successful background investigation.
- Secret level security clearance.
- Drug screening and random drug testing post‑employment.
- Selective Service registration.
- Availability for shift work, overtime, and work in various settings.
- Medical requirements: ability to lift and move baggage up to 50 lbs, flexibly squat, bend, and lean; walk up to two miles during a shift and stand for 3–4 hours; meet vision and hearing thresholds; color discrimination ability.
To qualify for the SV‑F Pay Band (equivalent to GS‑9) you must meet all of the following:
- Minimum experience/education: high‑school diploma/GED or equivalent, OR at least one year of full‑time security or aviation screening work.
- At least one year of experience functioning as a Transportation Security Officer at the D‑band level or above.
- Six months of specialized training experience at the D‑band level or above, including instructional methods for teaching or training others in security or related subjects.
This position does not have an education qualification requirement.
