We are seeking Part-time Safety Specialists to maintain a safe, secure, and supportive environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
The Safety Specialist responsibilities:
- Monitor the building, entrances, common areas, and surrounding property and investigate any identified suspicious activity. Monitor for prohibited activities such as unauthorized visitors, substance use, or property damage
- Respond appropriately to any identified safety concerns, emergencies, or disturbances, reporting to other staff on duty, alerting management staff, or seeking assistance from local emergency responders, as appropriate.
- Intervene in conflict situations to de-escalate redirect disruptive behavior using safe and appropriate communication techniques. Respond to fire alarms, medical emergencies, and safety threats according to established protocols. Coordinate with emergency services when required.
- Participate in required emergency drills and safety training.
- Document incidents, accidents, and maintenance issues in incident reports and logs.
- Maintain a respectful and professional presence with residents, staff, and guests while promoting compliance with building policies. Enforce building rules and safety policies consistently and respectfully.
Safety Specialist Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in security, residential services, behavioral health, or human services.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
- Demonstrated de-escalation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Ability to effectively and appropriately interact with individuals with mental health concerns substance use disorders and/or disabilities.
