Amentum is seeking a Fire Captain to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Fire Captain will work with the Assistant Fire Chief to execute policies and follow guidance to achieve goals and objectives for the department and specifically for the assigned platoon. The Fire Captain will serve as the Entry Team Officer at all emergency incidents that may occur because of natural forces, major accidents, fire or explosions, oil and hazardous material spills, and/or accidents occurring in confined spaces.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.

US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

• Work with the Assistant Chief to plan and develop policies and establish goals for the platoon; primarily responsible for supervising one Fire Station and its assigned apparatus.
• Respond to all emergencies on the Depot with the assigned engine company. When first to arrive, shall assume command until relieved by a senior Fire Officer. Act as the Fire Department Entry Team Officer at all emergencies.
• Exercise discretion and independent judgment as required.
• Customarily direct the work of two or more employees; have authority to recommend hiring, firing, promotion, and change of status of employees.
• Ensure compliance with company and governmental guidelines and regulations pertaining to the responsibilities of this position.
• Serve as an instructor for all phases of emergency response, including firefighting, hazmat response, confined space rescue, etc.; enforce Fire Prevention procedures during company building inspections.
• Maintain all firefighting, hazmat, and rescue equipment; ensure inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance of hydrants, fire alarm boxes, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, and other assigned equipment.
• Coordinate inspection of depot facilities with the fire Inspector.
• Assume duties of Assistant Fire Chief when assigned, including department operations, records management, and reports preparation.
• Report potential real environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.
• Perform other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned; may be assigned occasional duties of a higher level than those listed.

• 3-5 years experience in fire protection/prevention (full‑time, part‑time, volunteer, or technical training).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• State of Nevada Firefighter I and II certification.
• Valid State of Nevada Emergency Medical Technician I certification.
• OSHA Materials Handling Levels I, II, III, and V certification.
• Computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment.
• Maintain fitness‑for‑duty standards to perform essential functions, including HWAD drills and emergency requirements.
• Physically fit to withstand extreme heat, cold, and smoke; capable of arduous climbing, lifting, raising, running, and crawling.
• Use simple formulas to compute engine pressures for adequate water flow at the nozzle.
• Good working knowledge of the care, operation, and maintenance of all fire equipment.
• Operate auxiliary equipment such as Hurst Rescue.
• Obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada Driver's License and an “F” endorsement within 90 days of employment.
• Obtain and maintain Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) site access.
