At R Construction, we’re more than an underground utility contractor—we’re a team that lives our values every day:
Do the Right Thing, Care, Make It Happen, Live with Urgency, Grow or Die, and Clear Communication. As we grow, we’re investing in people and infrastructure, including the shop and yard that keep our operations moving smoothly.
We’re looking for a hands‑on, motivated Yardman who takes pride in keeping operations running seamlessly behind the scenes. This isn’t just a support role—it’s a critical position that ensures our crews have what they need, when they need it, and that our yard and shop stay organized, safe, and efficient.
Why You’ll Love This Role:- Be an essential part of a growing company and see the direct impact of your work
- Hands‑on work with equipment, tools, and materials—no two days are the same
- Opportunity to learn mechanical skills and grow into shop support or technician roles
- Work in a team‑focused, value‑driven environment where reliability and initiative are recognized
- Keep the yard and shop clean, organized, and hazard‑free
- Manage tool, equipment, and material storage, staging, and transportation
- Assist with loading/unloading deliveries and moving trailers or equipment
- Conduct routine inspections for cleanliness, damage, and proper usage
- Support tool and equipment check‑in/check‑out processes
- Maintain shop safety equipment: spill kits, fire extinguishers, and signage
- Help with basic mechanical tasks under supervision (fluid changes, greasing, cleaning)
- Stage equipment and materials for job mobilization and ensure outgoing loads are secured
- Support equipment pickup/drop‑off coordination with field crews
- 1–3 years of experience in yard, shop, warehouse, or construction support roles
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Comfortable operating forklifts, skid steers, and utility vehicles (training available)
- Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Safety‑focused, reliable, detail‑oriented, and proactive
- Able to take direction, work independently, and support multiple team members
Skills:
- Experience with small engine or light equipment repair
- Familiarity with OSHA yard/shop safety standards
- CDL or forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Mechanical aptitude or interest in growing into a shop/technician role
If you take pride in keeping operations moving smoothly, enjoy hands‑on work, and want to grow your skills in a value‑driven, supportive environment, we’d love to meet you.
