Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and apply utilities blueprints in the electrical scope.
  • Follow all live‑work policies & procedures.
  • Apply NEC requirements for all installations, including special systems & occupancy.
  • Read UBC, NFPA-72, NFPA-70E, and construction safety orders proficiently.
  • Investigate or assist in investigation and reporting of near‑misses, incidents, and injuries involving jobsite employees.
  • Supervise, direct, monitor, train, and work alongside one Electrician Trainee and/or one Apprentice to ensure safe and timely completion of assignments.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in trade‑related materials, components, equipment, systems, installation methods, safety procedures, safe work practices, basic calculations, blueprint and drawing interpretation, and troubleshooting.
  • Operate hand and power tools and equipment necessary for all trade assignments.
  • Communicate technical information with peers, assistants, project supervision, and other trades.
  • Interpret and apply electrical, architectural, civil, structural, and plumbing blueprints as applied to the electrical scope.
  • Complete multi‑task assignments involving all aspects of the trade via verbal and written instructions, field sketches, schematics, one‑line diagrams, and blueprint reference.
  • Generate complete tools & materials list for assigned tasks.
  • Perform layout and preparation for installation via verbal and written instructions, field sketches, and blueprint reference.
  • Instruct assisting employees in correct operation of tools & equipment, safe work practices, electrical principles, and applicable NEC.
  • Provide input on employee evaluations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment where the EEW policy does not apply (no shock or arc flash hazard, no permit required).
  • Perform metering and testing up to 480‑volts maximum where EEW policy does not apply.
  • Use volt, ammeter, and insulation/resistance meters proficiently where EEW policy does not apply.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and eagerness to learn the trade.
  • Demonstrate reliability and initiative.
  • Abide by company rules, policies, and safety requirements; report violations and incidents to supervisor or safety manager.
  • Perform all tasks in a timely manner to meet production standards.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current State Certified Electrical Journeyman license, if mandated by the state.

Work Environment

Regularly exposed to environmental conditions inside and outside: inclement weather, cold, heat, and humidity. Noise levels can be loud. Frequently exposed to vibrations, moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, machines, dust, and chemicals. May be required to work in crawl spaces, shafts, manholes, small enclosed rooms, and other areas of close proximity. Occasionally required to work on elevated surfaces including ladders and lifts.

  • Have near and far sighted visual acuity with or without correction; inspect small parts; read posted signs and instructions; identify possible hazards.
  • Maintain visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work.
