Shift: Monday through Friday
Hours: Variable
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentiators.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road test vehicles to confirm proper operation.
- Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate alternatives to resolve issues.
- Manage parts inventory and reconcile supplies on the company‑issued service truck.
- Maintain and operate the service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
- Work with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve problems.
- Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work in Repair Orders (RO) and upload images using the TRAIT application on an iOS device.
- Complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly.
- Work independently and manage daily schedule.
- Achieve productivity close to standard repair times.
- Source parts from approved vendors as needed.
- Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals and discuss findings.
- Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience; alternatively, a higher degree or certification and 5 years of experience.
- Possess a set of hand tools required for the job.
- Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
- Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
- Maintain a DOT medical card with more than 4 months validity; otherwise, a DOT physical is required.
- Be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority regulations.
- Hold a valid state driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
