The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) is seeking a qualified candidate with at least two (2) years of well‑rounded general maintenance experience to join our Building Maintenance and Services team as an Airport Facilities Technician II, III

Applications will be accepted until 11:59 p.m., Sunday, June 28th, 2026. Only individuals currently employed with the RTAA are eligible.

This is an hourly and overtime‑eligible position. Applications must indicate availability for day, swing, and graveyard shifts 7 days a week, including holidays.

Duties
  • Repairs and replaces plumbing fixtures and clear obstructions from lines.
  • Maintains and repairs RTAA facilities, equipment, and buildings through carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, and mechanical work in support of the preventive maintenance program.
  • Installs, adjusts, repairs, and inspects HVAC equipment, including furnaces, boilers, chillers, air conditioning units, exhaust fans, and related systems.
  • Completes daily, weekly, and monthly checklists and maintains maintenance records.
  • Performs carpentry work such as construction, installation, remodeling, and repair of cabinets, partitions, sheetrock, walls, stucco, windows, locks, doors, roofs, and foundations.
  • Operates and maintains mechanical tools and equipment such as power saws, sanders, drills, air compressors, paint sprayers, and sewer augers.
  • Reads and interprets sketches, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Repairs and maintains electrical lighting systems.
  • Has general knowledge of a CMMS system for work orders and preventive maintenance.
  • Performs heavy manual labor.
  • Participates in snow removal by maintaining landside roads, parking areas, ramps, and walkways.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
  • Routine lifting of 25 lbs. (up to 75 lbs. occasionally).
  • Work in all weather conditions and environments.
  • Operate in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Use personal protective equipment and follow safety protocols.
Entry Salary

$25.97 - $32.05 per hour
, with opportunity for merit‑based increases up to $39.21 per hour. Non‑day shift employees receive an additional $3.00 per hour shift differential. Initial salary is based on experience and qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications

Facilities Technician II – Performs duties under general supervision and is distinguished from Technician I by partially autonomous performance of a full range of duties.

Required

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent certificate. An equivalent combination of experience and training may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.

Required Experience: Two (2) years of experience performing the full range of semi‑skilled facilities maintenance or construction work, exceeding or equivalent to Technician II.

Required Licensing: A valid Driver’s License is required at the time of application.

Facilities Technician III – Performs duties under general supervision and is distinguished from Technician II by independent performance and exercise of high judgment and initiative.

Required

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent certificate. Equivalent experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.

Required Experience: Five (5) years of skilled facilities maintenance or construction work, exceeding or equivalent to Technician II.

Required Licensing: A valid Driver’s License is required at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree, technical, or vocational training is preferred.

Experience: Commercial plumbing repair and maintenance.
