Interiors Technician

Job Description

The Interiors Technician fabricates, assembles, and installs interior components and systems in aircraft while meeting quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role works to defined man‑hour budgets and schedules, performs functional checks and adjustments on installed systems, and accurately documents all work performed. The Interiors Technician contributes to a clean, organized, and professional work area and supports team members as needed to ensure high‑quality interior completions.

Responsibilities
  • Complete assigned interior tasks within allocated man‑hour budgets and schedules while maintaining all quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install interior products such as window panels, headliners, decorative panels, and access panels.
  • Install main cabin cabinets including galleys, crew closets, entertainment cabinets, window shades, side ledges, tables, mid‑run cabinets, and lavatory cabinets.
  • Install final assemblies, including sinks, water systems, air and oxygen systems, and drawers.
  • Perform functional checks on installed systems to verify proper operation.
  • Adjust and perform functional tests on mechanical assemblies such as drawers, magazine racks, doors, curtains, and tables.
  • Install and fit carpeting in the aircraft cabin.
  • Install cockpit and cabin seats and perform functional tests to ensure correct operation and fit.
  • Set up and operate standard shop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Accurately document all work performed in the Corridor system and maintain clear, complete records.
  • Complete all tasks to a high standard of quality within defined budgets and timelines.
  • Assist other team members with interior tasks and larger installations as required.
  • Work in accordance with company rules and procedures, including Safety, Training, Quality, and Human Resources requirements.
  • Follow business unit rules such as Tool Control and 5S to maintain an organized and efficient workspace.
  • Consistently present a professional manner and represent the organization positively.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support interior completions and maintenance activities.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with aircraft interior or cabin installations.
  • Ability to work from sketches or 3D models to complete interior installations.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions such as installation and test procedures.
  • Proficiency in using drills, belt sanders, disc sanders, drum sanders, and other common hand tools and equipment.
  • Physical and muscular dexterity to install carpets, headliners, window panels, passenger service units (PSUs), cabinet assemblies, cushions, seats, tables, and related components.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work in a standing position, lean on the floor, and stand up and down repeatedly, with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to repeatedly enter and exit aircraft using stationary steps or stairs while transporting interior furnishings and assisting with items that require more than one person to move.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to completing work to high quality standards.
  • Ability to follow safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines consistently.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Technical training in aircraft structures or maintenance.
  • Experience in servicing, modifying, or repairing aircraft.
  • Experience in custom cabinet installation and/or upholstery work.
  • Familiarity with interior furnishing materials such as wood, laminates, and composites.
  • Comfort working in a hangar and ramp environment, including around loud noise and interior by‑products such as glue, resin, and wood dust.
