Position: Mobile Diesel Mechanic II Mon - Fri Variable Shift

Mobile Diesel Technician Level II

Overview

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment across the same systems.
  • Inspect, test, and use instruments (handheld computers, pressure gauges) to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Road test vehicles to verify proper operation.
  • Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate alternatives using sound judgment.
  • Manage parts inventory, reconcile supplies, and maintain the company‑issued service truck.
  • Conduct safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections of the vehicle.
  • Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues.
  • Prioritize and manage concurrent tasks and time allocations.
  • Utilize hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document work in Repair Orders (RO) and upload photos via the company’s TRAIT application on an iOS device.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation promptly.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and meet standard repair times.
  • Source parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.
  • Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone to obtain approvals, purchase order numbers, and discuss RO notes.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Manage daily schedule with a high degree of independence.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of related experience (alternative combinations may be accepted). Candidates may also hold a degree/certification beyond HS or 5 years of experience.
  • Supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
  • Meet DOT FMCSA regulations, pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
  • Provide a current and valid DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining (or a DOT physical if less).
  • Be at least 21 years of age due to interstate operating authority regulations.
  • Hold a valid state driver's license and obtain/maintain a Driver Qualification File.
