Service Technician - Class A

Dealership and Position: Lithia Volkswagen of Reno – Service Technician – Class A (German vehicle experience required)

• Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with Lithia and manufacturer standards.
• Diagnose the cause of malfunctions.
• Complete all work according to applicable safety requirements.
• Road‑test vehicles to ensure quality of repair work.
• Accurately record time spent on repairs utilizing company time‑clocking procedures.
• Document work performed on repair orders and record test procedures/results.
• Maintain an inventory of normal mechanical tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, socket wrenches, pliers, hammers, chisels, punches) and return special tools to proper location.
• Use shop supplies and materials in a practical and economical manner.
• Maintain an organized and clean workspace, completing a stall cleaning daily.
• Ensure vehicles are returned to customers clean and ready.
• Complete all required training.
• Acquire and maintain manufacturer and ASE certifications through necessary training.
• Participate in and utilize technical training assigned by management.
• Review technical bulletins and other publications as assigned.
• Communicate constructively with dealership personnel to satisfy customer needs.

• Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Manufacturer training passed and ability to perform repairs in the following areas without supervision:
  • Lube and Maintenance Services
  • Engine Repair
  • Automatic Transmission
  • Manual Drive Train Repair
  • Suspension/Steering Repair
  • Brake Repair
  • Electrical/Electrical Systems Repair
  • Hybrid/Alternative Fuels
  • Heating and A/C Repair
  • Engine Drivability Diagnosis and Repair (Optional)
• Certified manufacturer-wise in all areas listed above.
• Valid smog license or state emissions certification (as applicable).
• Customer Pay proficiency level greater than 115%.
• Five plus years’ experience in automotive technical areas preferred.
• Acceptable driving record and valid driver’s license.

• Manufacturer certification in all listed repair areas.
• State emissions certification or smog license.

High school graduate or equivalent, 18 years or older required.
