Job Overview
A Technician Trainee will be trained and educated to become a proficient auto glass technician. Upon completion of the training program, the trainee receives the Safelite Safe Tech certification and possesses fundamental skills necessary for performing unsupervised glass repair, replacement, and recalibrations.
Responsibilities- Be paid to learn and apprentice the Safelite way, through hands‑on and classroom training.
- Observe and assist in installing and repairing auto glass.
- Recalibrate automotive safety systems, including troubleshooting and completing diagnostic testing.
- Provide additional services and products.
- Study and pass testing to become a Safelite‑certified Technician, demonstrating proficiency in installations, a positive attitude, and adherence to taught techniques.
- Safely operate company and customer vehicles, and use company‑issued tools and chemicals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all company policies and standards.
- Competitive weekly pay starting at $21.25/hour, increasing to $25.25/hour after training and certification.
- Earn $5 per set of wiper blades when added for customer safety.
- Benefits package valued at more than $10k, including 401(k) plan with company match, medical plans, paid time off, holidays, and volunteer days.
- Program to buy additional PTO or sell unused time up to 16 hours.
- Up to $5,250 annually in tuition reimbursement.
- Paid training and all tools and resources required for success.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license and any other license(s) required by federal, state, and local laws to operate a company vehicle.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, work in tight spaces, bend and twist the body.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and computerized diagnostic tools.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely under all laws and with in‑cab vehicle safety camera monitoring.
- Strong customer service orientation and professionalism.
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
- Ability to handle chemicals as applicable per company guidelines.
- Flexible scheduling to accommodate customer needs.
- Good verbal and written communication in English.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and adhere to dress code and PPE policies.
- Ability to maintain performance under pressure.
