Job Overview

Raymond West is looking for a Dock and Door Technician to join our service team. The primary objectives are to proficiently repair and service customer equipment, maintain good communication with customers and peers, represent and sell the company, and ensure profitability through direct labor billing while adhering to safety guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Repair all types of Dock and Door equipment that RW sells and services.
  • Repair all types of equipment that Raymond West sells and services.
  • Update training and skills on a continuing basis.
  • Train other employees as needed.
  • Maintain a profitable billing level.
  • Follow all Service Department procedures.
  • Communicate with assigned Service leadership.
  • Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate, and orderly fashion.
  • Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work.
  • Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work.
  • Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle (inside and outside).
  • Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable.
  • Represent the entire company at all times.
  • Pass Raymond Certification and re-certification, if applicable.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record as established by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • Report accidents whether self or customer.
  • Account for 100% of available time during working hours.
  • Be willing to work overtime when necessary and coordinate it with the assigned supervisor.
  • Follow all procedures in the company’s Employee Handbook.
  • Follow safety procedures and use good judgment regarding safety.
  • Be willing to work out of town as necessary.
  • Establish a positive rapport with customers.
  • Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by Service Supervisors or Managers.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with employees, co‑workers, and managers in other departments.
  • Willingness to work off‑hours as required and to assume additional responsibilities.
  • Consistency in fulfilling essential job functions safely and alertly.
  • Self‑motivated and efficient time management.
  • Customer‑oriented attitude.
  • Professional behavior at all times.
  • Willingness to follow mandates and procedures of the Service Department.
  • Ability to deal with customers face‑to‑face.

  • Pass all required certifications appropriate to the position.
  • Working knowledge of basic DC and AC electricity, internal combustion, and diesel engines.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division in all units of measure).
  • Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Raymond Level 1 certified or working toward that goal, if applicable.
  • Valid driver’s license with no more than the allowable level of points on record, if applicable.
  • Maintain personally owned tools according to the approved minimum tool list.
  • Maintain additional tools as required by duties and certification level.
  • Able to take directions and be a team player.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic systems and mechanical abilities.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
  • Quick learner and able to perform accurately and neatly with flexibility.
  • Motivated for continuous self‑development and training.
Education & Experience

Minimum:
Determined by position.

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of breakdown experience or comparable service experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Travel Requirement
  • Position is field‑based and requires daily travel within assigned territories.
