We are currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II.
Role OverviewThe Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The Technician II can perform advanced diagnostics and repairs under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher, and continues to learn additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques.
Duties- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials).
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, AC, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials.
- Inspect, test, and use test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges to diagnose malfunctions.
- Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure they are working properly.
- Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
- Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
- Work with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
- Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage own daily schedule independently.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work in Repair Orders (RO) using the company‑issued iOS device, uploading pictures and findings.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation promptly.
- Maintain safety, health, and environmental compliance, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (alternate combinations accepted).
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
- Pass DOT-regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical; a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical.
- Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid state driver’s license and Driver Qualification File.
- Safe driving skills required.
